Is Fruit Making You Fat? {Fruits to Avoid For Fat Loss}

Is Fruit Making You Fat? {Fruits to Avoid For Fat Loss}

Have you ever really looked at the food pyramid?

The pyramid may be a simple rule of thumb when it comes to general diet.

However, people often misinterpret quantities and other factors that exist when it boils down to a creating a healthy diet.

Obviously, as seen in the food pyramid, fats are bad and fruits and veggies are good.

We learned that at a very young age, right?

However, that logic is really faulty.

Even if the pyramid tells you these foods are better than others, it doesn’t mean you don’t have to think about the number of calories involved.

You Can’t Shortcut Your Weight Loss By Only Eating Fruit

eating an all fruit diet

You can’t cut open a watermelon and eat it all in one sitting without having to worry about the true consequences.

I mean you can… however, prepare to deal with all the natural sugars that are inside that melon.

The sweeter the fruit, the more fructose it contains.

The more fructose it contains… the more it could impact your weight.

It goes against the idea that you can eat as many fruits and veggies as you want.

I know. It’s time to get over that.

The bottom line is, fructose can cause some serious problems for your health in large quantities.

Are Some Fruits Better Than Others?

Luckily, yes.

All fruits have varying levels of fructose.

The sweeter and more appealing ones typically have higher fructose content, but you can still substitute to eat healthier ones. (that still taste amazing)

You can still get plenty of benefits from the vitamins, antioxidants, and minerals from fruits with lower sugar.

Not to say you can’t enjoy your favorites… but try to keep a limit on how many of them you eat on a regular basis.

Ok, Which Ones Should I Eat?

fruits for fat loss

Less of these…

  • pineapple
  • melons
  • mangoes
  • grapes
  • bananas
  • papayas

If so, I’m sorry to break it to you.

These fruits are the ones to watch out for.

Instead, you should alter your diet and general appetite to…

  • apples
  • berries
  • citrus fruits
  • peaches
  • pears
  • cherries
  • figs.

These fruits have a much lower sugar content.

Don’t Fruits Have Some Of The Best Nutrients?

oranges

Yes… but most people don’t even eat the whole fruit!

People boast and go on and on about all the fabulous vitamins and antioxidants in fruit… and yet they never eat the parts that truly have a surplus.

Have you seen people that cut their oranges into slices and then the chew the wedge but throw away most of the fibrous parts of the orange?

It’s such a waste.

This is why it’s much more important to blend your fruits into a fat burning smoothie, instead of a fat burning juice. (throw in the wedge!)

You might as well just drink orange juice… (and do not get that concentrated mess)

The same goes for apples and peaches.

Now with some fruits, there is no option to eat all of it. I get it.

However, with the exception of melons and a few other things, most fruits are edible all the way through.

Try to focus on creative ways in using the entire fruit. Such as blending it in a smoothie or using it as an edible garnish.

How Much Is Too Much?

As with most aspects of weight loss, you need to look at many different areas to determine how to lose weight effectively.

A good area to start when you evaluate is how active you are on a regular basis.

The more activity you have in your life, the more energy you will use. And in turn, the more calories you will burn.

Keep this in mind with all the other foods that you are eating on a day-to-day basis.

Evaluate the overall content of your diet.

If you are just eating large quantities of fruits and the rest is a balanced amount, you are still going to see some a significant increase in your weight.

I’m Mainly Eating Fruit But I’m Not Losing Weight!

fruit and weight loss

Why?

You’re eating too much!

Find a good balance with variety and sensible serving sizes.

When you look at your diet, you want to make sure that you have a good balance of food types that provide you with all the nutrients you need.

If you can keep the balance right with sensible serving sizes, you will find your diet getting back on track and maybe you can enjoy an extra serving of pineapple or mango after dinner 🙂

Fruit Is Only the Beginning…

You can not get all the nutrients and vitamins you need in fruit alone.

You need to diversify your diet.

How?

Find a blueprint.

If you’re serious about losing weight – and keeping it off – you’re going to need a blueprint to follow.

Pete’s Paleo Eats is that blueprint.

I often send this cookbook to friends and family after they decide to take their health and wellness seriously.
